The IMS 100 course provides a foundational introduction to Ontario’s Incident Management System (IMS), a standardized framework used across the province to support coordinated and effective emergency response. IMS establishes common organizational structures, functions, processes, and terminology to ensure interoperability—the ability for responders from different organizations and jurisdictions to work together seamlessly during all types of incidents.

In this course, you will learn the core concepts and guiding principles of IMS, including how personnel, facilities, equipment, procedures, and communications are organized and coordinated throughout an incident. By the end of the course, you will understand the major functions within the IMS structure and be prepared to assume basic roles within an incident management team during low-complexity or simple incidents.
